God I find working out frustrating. Whenever I get into it I always seem to pick up an injury, my knee, my ribs, my calves and most regularly my back. What is it about me that makes me fall over every few weeks? I’m 29 but I seem to have the bones of an 80 year old. There’s only one solution…..

Volunteer work

Before I splurge about volunteer work just wanted to give an update about this blog. It has always been a sort of secondary interest to me, spouting some nonsense every few months and then leaving it for the dust to gather. Just something that sits in the corner at areashiftybun.com . This is going to change however as It will be the main place for people who don’t visit the site to check out my reviews, films, music, and my new vlog mike rants. So check back often as I am going to be updating every few days.

I have recently volunteered to do some victim support work, in other words working with victims of crime. I’m really looking forward to the challenge and after speaking to people at the victim support office I am convinced this will be a great experience. It is completely different from my expereince of volunteering with the samaritans. For those who don’t know the Samaritans is an organisation that provides free “listening services” to those with suicidal thoughts. I tried to volunteer and frankly, was treated like an annoyance simply because the woman I was dealing with was having a bad day. So I decided it wasn’t for me when I heard that I would have to work closely with this person. Luckily the experience with the coordinator for victim support in the Southside of Glasgow has been completely positive and I can’t wait to do my training and start helping out in any way I can.
